It’s a pleasure to welcome you to our vibrant and nurturing school community, where children are truly at the heart of everything we do.
At Little Common School, our vision, Learning, Caring, Succeeding... together, guides every aspect of school life. We believe that strong relationships create a genuine sense of belonging, and we prioritise meaningful connections with every child and their family. From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll feel the warmth and care that define our school.
Our core values - ambitious, confident, creative, considerate, resilient, and healthy - are woven into daily life and learning. We aim to develop these qualities in every pupil, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals ready to succeed both academically and personally.
Our dedicated staff team are passionate about delivering high-quality teaching tailored to each child’s needs. Through ongoing professional development and collaboration, we stay at the forefront of educational best practice, ensuring every pupil is supported to thrive.
As Headteacher, I’m incredibly proud of our outstanding school community. I look forward to working in partnership with you as your child begins their journey with us.

Staff and pupils are rightly proud of their school.
You all work so hard and I love that I am able to volunteer and that my child attends such a wonderful school.
Pupils are supported to strive for excellence in everything that they do. They actively pursue the school’s values to be confident, resilient, ambitious, creative, considerate and healthy.
Every single student who came up was so polite and well mannered, greeting us with a cheerful hello, a please, and a thank you.
Pupils reach and exceed these expectations consistently. There is no ceiling on pupils’ learning.
...a real reminder of what a special community this school is.

We were fortunate to be able to offer a special music and storytelling workshop on Friday for a selected group of our Year 2 children. Through Create Music and led by professional musicians, the session introduced pupils to a brandnew musical tale featuring an old lady, her cat Chutney, and a blackberryloving fairy! A wonderful creative experience and a real treat for our children.

Big School's Birdwatch – EYFS Style! Our EYFS children are getting ready to spread their wings and take part in this year's Big School's Birdwatch! We'll be spotting, identifying, and learning all about the wonderful birds that visit our outdoor area. Why not join in at home too? The Big Garden Birdwatch is happening this weekend – a brilliant opportunity to enjoy nature together and see how many feathered friends you can spot from your window or garden. We'd love to hear which birds you see! #BigSchoolsBirdwatch #BigGardenBirdwatch #EYFS #LearningThroughNature #LittleBirdwatchers
We're thrilled to be a finalist for the award of 'Empowering Young Leaders' at the Youth Sport Trust Conference Awards 2026 . This is for empowering young people to take on leadership roles in PE and school sport. This recognition is a fantastic achievement for our school, and we couldn't be prouder. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony in March.
Celebrating Our Year 6 This week, four of our Year 6 pupils planned and delivered an assembly to the whole of Key Stage 1 and 2 - and what a fantastic job they did! Giving our oldest pupils the chance to take the lead is such an important part of life at Little Common School. Opportunities like this help them grow in confidence, develop their communication skills, and learn what it means to be positive role models for the younger children. It was wonderful to see them speaking clearly, organising their ideas, and supporting one another throughout. Our younger pupils loved hearing from them too - there's something very powerful about children learning with and from other children. A huge well done - you showed ambition, resilience and confidence. We're proud of the example you set for our whole school community. Learning, Caring, Succeeding... together.
Look what's waiting for our EYFS children today! Our outdoor learning space has been transformed ready for lots of imaginative play, teamwork and adventure! Through role play, our children learn to: explore realworld communities develop language and storytelling practise problemsolving and collaboration build confidence through pretend play All of this links beautifully to the EYFS Understanding the World and Communication & Language curriculum helping our youngest learners make sense of the world around them while having fun. We can't wait to see what missions, emergencies and deliveries happen this week!

Last year's Light Up Little Common was a lovely event to brighten up dark and gloomy January. Children created some lovely artwork (see the video for last year's artwork). We are looking forward to another evening of celebration this Wednesday from 4:30pm. If your child has created anything at home, please bring it to school today or tomorrow at home time where you can directly leave it in the pavilion. Alternately via the class teacher in the morning or via office if it's a larger or more delicate item!
